JRTwine Arcade Repair offers some products that might make life a little easier for both owners and other arcade techs out there. Some informaton on these products is shown below, along with a link to additional details and how to purchase or obtain the item.
This was a device originally designed to be used with Atari Regulator/Audio power boards (colloquially referred to as AR-I, AR-II, and AR-III) to help prevent damage to a game due to over-voltage situations. An AR board cannot be 100% bulletproofed to prevent an over-voltage situation from occurring, but this device can help protect things if and when it does.
While its original intent was for AR boards, it can be used for over-voltage protection in just about any arcade game or pinball machine.
This device holds a CPU in reset until power stabilizes and also will put a CPU back into reset if the voltage drops below a critical threshold. There are two versions of this device.
One was designed specifically for the 6809 CPU to help prevent CMOS corruption in Williams hardware, and the other is a custom one that can be tailored for just about any CPU.
This device can also be used to implement a more robust POR circuit or replace a broken one.
Some arcade games do not have support for free play. If you want to provide an easy way to credit a machine you need to wire up an external switch or leave the coin door open. If wiring a switch, you might have to drill a suitable hole somewhere or just leave wires dangling out somewhere.
How about a low-cost solution that is a little neater and more unobtrusive than that than that? The Remote Credit Button is a small adhesive-backed membrane switch that can be attached to the front of the coin door and its flat ribbon cable can fit in between the coin door and its frame allowing it to be easily wired to a coin switch, service switch (recommended if you have one), or even something else depending on your needs. For example, it could be connected to a Menu or Setup switch if you are using a multigame.
A variety of connection options are available. You can purchase just the switch, or include a 4-pin header (makes it easier to solder wires to), or get one with a complete harness.
JAMMA Fingerboards
We have two types of internally developed fingerboards available: a Wiring model and an Adapter model. The Wiring model is generally used for taking a non-JAMMA cabinet and permanently making it as JAMMA-capable as possible, as least from the connector point of view. For example, if you wanted to take a Centuri Vanguard cabinet and allow it to play JAMMA games.
The Adapter model is generally used for creating adapters, as its name suggests. For example, if you wanted to create your own adapter that would allow you to play Vanguard in a vertical JAMMA cabinet, you would use this model.
This fingerboard could also be used to create a removable/temporary adapter that could be used to temporarily allow a non-JAMMA cabinet to play JAMMA games, without changing the existing wiring.
